While dedicating much of her life to social justice work, Taivi’s music steadily grew behind the scenes. Her influences stretch beyond classical and popular traditions into folk roots from North America, Latin America, Scandinavia, and beyond.
In her music career, she has performed with Garth Hudson of the Band, the Toronto Gamelan Orchestra, a 30,000 voice choir in Tallinn, and the Chilean-Greek band the Companeros. In Toronto, she has played venues such as Toronto's Hugh's Room, Danforth Music Hall, Tranzac Club, Acoustic Harvest, Cameron House, and Heliconian Club.
Taivi's ancestral roots are in Estonia, a country known for its historic “Singing Revolution.” That legacy runs deep in her music.
Her songs reflect a close connection to the land, living with hope, experiences of those close to her, the weight of unspoken moments, and the joy of simply being alive.
Taivi also created Beyond the Walls, a collaborative project bringing together voices, visions, and photography from communities around the world.
